At Post, the rhythm between the garden, kitchen and our rural community is constant, with harvests and local producers arriving daily. Our aim is to serve seasonal food of the highest quality, reflecting the people we work with and the land that sustains us.

Homegrown & Seasonal
We grow as much as possible in our own small market garden at our nearby smallholding The Three Doves. The growing is overseen by Penny whose passion for growing organic, biodynamic produce is matched by her enthusiasm for heritage and often forgotten seeds.
The flowers on the table and arrangement are the creations of green fingered Lois, who orchestrates the often daily run from the patch to the kitchen to ensure that everything is as fresh as can be and that there’s no waste. The less idyllic but equally rewarding side of these runs includes bringing back the food waste to feed the compost bays and complete the cycle.

Local & Traceable
What we cannot grow ourselves, comes from trusted local growers and foragers who share our values. The mushrooms, for instance, are grown just outside Newnham by agro-ecological business Forest of Dean Mushrooms.
When we cook meat, it comes from trusted local farms such as Plump Hill Farm and Huntsham Court Farm and we often butcher it ourselves to ensure nothing goes to waste. Our fish is sustainably line-caught by in British water, and Câr-y-Môr, who supply our much loved shellfish, is the first regenerative ocean farm in Wales, dedicated to restoring Welsh marine and soil ecosystems.
Our drinks menu, curated by Ted, celebrates local cider makers and indeed wine makers, our closest being Kingsthorne Wine Estates in nearby Flaxley. Our broader wine selection highlights small, independent European vineyards farming organically or with a focus on terroir. One of our specialist importers is based just over the border in Monmouth, reducing transport miles and strengthening our local network.
Our coffee is roasted by James Gourmet Coffee in Ross-on-Wye, chosen for their direct trade relationships with farmers.

Community & Craft
Post is becoming part of the fabric of Newnham on Severn, and we are deeply grateful for the warmth of this unique, vibrant village that has supported us from the very beginning. Our weekday “locals’ lunch” at £15 per person has been a wonderful way to share our passion for high‑quality, seasonal food.
The beetroot oil painting, by Gloucestershire artist Kirsten Elswood, comes from our neighbouring gallery, The Sanctuary. Even the details on your table reflect our creative community; our bread baskets are handwoven by local willow weaver Clyde, while our small dishes, candlesticks, and vases are crafted by skilled potter Martin at The Grange Village, which supports adults with learning disabilities.
